one question i had was what if i did paper mache instead of duct tape (for the end at least, i dont have enough faith in myself to make it look so smooth lol) my only concern would be that it would add a lot of weight but idk

If you want an ammo belt you can throw around and not worry about breaking the bullets i suggest using colored pencils just sharpen it slightly paint it gold and do everything he did here.

Thanks for the tutorial , i kinda modified it by adding paper mache to make it a bit stronger and some cardboard wedges for smooth look but nevertheless you were a great help especially your simple and straight forward method , keep it up

Not to be nitpicky but im trying to follow the instructions for my own build and the measurements and they arent super accurate in you schematic you show. I can tell you just sketched the template out and the after the fact made the digital example but it would be nice if it were more accurate to help people following along
